The United Nations Development Programme says it will continue working with government to ensure food security to livelihoods affected by disasters in the country. “Climate change is the chief cause of many negative impacts. As UNDP we have observed that sometimes it rains too much and sometimes it doesn’t rain when we expect it. We want to closely work with the government so that we can always be prepared and help secure livelihoods of the people of Malawi,” said UNDP’s resident coordinator Shigeki Komatsubara. Vice-President Everton Chimulirenji said the government is committed to working with various stakeholders in implementing disaster mitigation and resilience building programmes.
