NAP-GSP meetings at COP19
The NAP-GSP team attending COP19 met with at least 10 LDC country delegations and several non-LDC delegations to promote and discuss NAP support in detail.
NAP-GSP support to Niger
13 November 2013: The NAP-GSP representatives from UNDP Bangkok and UNDP Niger Country Office at COP19 met with Dr. Kamayé Mââzou, UNFCCC Focal Point in Niger and Executive Secretary of the National Council on Environment for Sustainable Development, Niger. The meeting was a key opportunity to consider the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process for Niger. Discussion included the potential for technical support and expertise to assist the Niger Ministry of Finance and / or Ministry of Planning.
The NAP-GSP is working in collaboration with UNDP Country Offices, and the Niger offices of other UN Agencies.
The next steps for the NAP-GSP in Niger are to continue to scope out the key adaptation requirements, particularly through an upcoming mission to Niger. In addition, discussion is underway support the process of a Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Review (CPEIR) in Niger.
NAP-GSP support to the Gambia
The National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) team met with the Special Climate Envoy of the Government of the Gambia, Mr. Pa Ousman Jarju, in the margins of COP19.
This meeting was a key opportuity for NAP-GSP to identify key entry points for technical and financial support to the Gambia.
Meeting for LDC delegates at COP19
Least Developed Country (LDC) delegates to COP19 gathered during COP19 for a coordination meeting on the NAP-GSP with LDC Chair Mr. Prakash Mathema, alongside NAP-GSP representatives from UNDP and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
The coordination meeting took place on 14 November 2013. The discussions featured the entry points and support opportunities for the programme in each of the countries that have requested support.
