This NAP in focus country briefing on the process to formulate and implement National Adaptation Plans in Tanzania considers firstly the country context and the climate change risks.

Effective action on resilience and climate change adaptation can be a complex task—requiring coordinated efforts from the highest levels of government to individual households and firms. The Adaptation Principles offer a guide to effective climate change adaptation, containing hands-on guidance to the design, implementation and monitoring of national adaptation strategies.

Distinct effort has been made to promote gender equality and increase socio-economic gender empowerment in the implementation of the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project. The project's Gender Strategy and Action Plan articulates a succinct roadmap to achieving its goals related to greater resilience for men and women in the country.

The Adaptation Fund has launched a new USD 10 million pilot small grants programme (Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator, AFCIA) to foster innovation in adaptation in developing countries at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid. The AFCIA targets a broad range of potential finance recipients, including governments, non-governmental organisations, community groups, young innovators and other groups.

The study was carried out under the Integrating Agricultural Sectors into National Adaptation Plans programme, with the aim of capacity building, generating evidence-based results for selecting adaptation options, and informing adaptation policy dialogues on adaptation in agriculture. This study analyses the economic worthiness of adaptation measures currently being practiced by some farmers on their land.

This learning report was developed at the conclusion of the UNDP-supported ‘Strengthening Climate Information and Early Warning Systems in Cambodia to Support Climate Resilient Development and Adaptation to Climate Change’ project, financed by the GEF-Least Developed Countries Fund.

Cities globally are highly exposed to disaster and climate-related risks. With accelerating urban growth, increasing exposure to climate change risks and multi-dimensional vulnerability, it is critical for cities to employ an integrated, climate risk-informed development approach to advance resilient lives and livelihoods and achieve progress towards the SDGs.

This case study was carried out under the Integrating Agricultural Sectors into National Adaptation Plans programme (NAP-Ag) with the aim of generating empirical evidence about adaptation options in agriculture and to inform adaptation policy dialogues in Zambia. The study uses a cost-benefit analysis to analyse the financial and economic worthiness of conservation agriculture practices using primary data from a survey of a sample of 18,183 households targeted by the Conservation Agriculture Scaling-up Project in Zambia.

In Cambodia, climate-related disasters are impacting lives and livelihoods and inflicting enormous economic damage. With financial support from Global Environment Facility - Least Developed Countries Fund and technical support from UNDP, this project helped the government to bridge crucial gaps in institutional capacity, inter-ministerial coordination, and infrastructure for early warning.

In 2020, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) will experience the most severe economic recession in decades. This paper looks at the challenges confronted by LAC and proposes a series of actions in order to structure a recovery plan that minimizes potential moral hazard effects, while aligning fiscal, social and environmental sustainability priorities.

Cambodia is considered one of the most water-abundant countries in Asia and has an economy highly dependent on water. However, groundwater management in the country is challenged by the lack of proper monitoring systems and regulation.

There have been many drought incidences in Cambodia, but limited evidence regarding their underlying factors. This national drought study is an effort to develop and propose nationally adopted drought indicators for the country, integrating global academic literature and technical reports on drought in Cambodia. The study intended to localize the existing regional drought platform and validate this information using available data from Cambodia.

The FARM programme (short for Forecast Application for Risk Management in Agriculture) has been developed by Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES) and is to be used by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as a standard training programme for the use of climate information in agricultural practices. As well as teaching aspects of climate monitoring, prediction and forecasting application (localized to the context), the curriculum facilitates regular discussions between farmers, extension workers and meteorological authorities.
