Min of Forests and Soil Cons & UNDP Nepal (2013) - Allo Value Chain Study

This study is part of a series of comprehensive value chain analyses carried out by the Department of Forestry (Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation) and UNDP Nepal as part of the Mountain EbA Programme in Nepal. The study focuses on Allo, which is a perennial shrub belonging to the Urticaceae family (Nettle). The stem bark of Allo contains fibres with unique strength, smoothness and silk like lustre. The fibre has been used to make clothes for generations. The fibre, thread and weaved clothes are commercially traded from a few districts in Nepal.
