SL appoints steering committee ahead of November confab

Sri Lanka is to appoint a steering committee to make arrangements for participation in the forthcoming 27th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP27) to the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) scheduled to be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, from November 7 to 18.

The decision was taken at a meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Environment Minister Hafiz Naseer Ahamed, at his Ministry.

The other participants at the meeting were Environment Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe, UNICEF Sri Lanka Representative Christian Skoog, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative Malin Herwig, Egyptian Ambassador Maged Mosleh and British High Commissioner Sarah Hulton, whose country is the current chair of the conference.
