A project supporting Lebanese farmers better manage their scarce water supplies and cope with the increasing pressures and demands of a growing Syrian refugee population concluded recently. ‘Social Stabilization Through Comprehensive Agricultural Support for Refugee Host Communities,’ funded by the Japanese government and implemented by UNDP, ICARDA and other partners, targeted farmers in Qab Elias, a municipality in the Bekaa Valley, which is close to the Syria-Lebanon border and hosts an estimated 45,000 Syrians.
