The Government of Kenya, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP), has launched the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Implementation Framework, which aims to provide a guide to innovative and transformative initiatives and best practices to address climate change. Launched on 31 October 2018, the Kenya CSA Implementation Framework 2018-2027 aims to ensure increased agricultural productivity, build the resilience of national agricultural systems and provide options for implementing the Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Strategy 2017-2026, launched in March 2017. The framework sets guidelines for implementing CSA approaches, strategies, practices and technologies in the country, and aims to promote the growth of climate-resilient, low-carbon and sustainable agriculture that ensures food security and contributes to national development goals. The framework is aligned with Kenya’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and National Climate Change Action Plan 2018-2022. It will help Kenya achieve its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under the UNFCCC, and is in line with the UNFCCC’s Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture.
