From 17-19 October Manila hosted the 2023 UNDP- Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) workshop. Bringing together participants from 44 organizations from 32 countries, the successful event highlighted a range of innovative solutions supported by grants under the AFCIA programme and provided a valuable platform to delve deeper into the endeavors of contributors to the programme, allowing for the exchange of experiences and the expansion of knowledge.
The event focused on crucial subjects, including community-driven climate initiatives, innovative approaches to adaptation, financing for development, and avenues for replication and scaling up these solutions while strengthening skills for grantees working with the AFCIA Programme. Participants also took part in training, peer-to-peer learning, and networking, such as ‘Funding Approaches for Sustainable Development’, ‘Impact and Business Development’, and ‘Funding and Innovation’.
About AFCIA
The UNDP-managed AFCIA programme is aligned with implementing the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The programme is fostering innovation of adaptation practices at the local level in vulnerable countries. By September 2023, approximately US$5 million in micro and small climate action grants has been issued to 44 local innovators across 32 countries. Click here to learn more.
