The UNFCCC process is complex, and the entry into force of the Paris Agreement has added new layers of negotiations and obligations. Despite limited resources and capacity, the 47 Least Developed Countries (LDCs) have played a proactive role—pushing for ambitious and equitable outcomes while also training a new generation of climate negotiators. This publication explores LDC responsibilities under the Convention and the Paris Agreement, the specific provisions of support available to them, and the critical role these play in enabling LDCs to implement climate commitments. It also highlights how meeting these obligations strengthens the LDC Group’s collective moral voice in the negotiations.
