Meeting between representatives from MACS and the UNDP

A delegation which included members of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Project SCALA (Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture) held a meeting last week at the Oficina País with the Argentine Roundtable on Sustainable Beef (MACS in spanish). The aim of this encounter was to consolidate the link between both organizations, brief over the progress of the initiative and optimize their activities.

On behalf of the MACS, there sat Fernando Valdivia y Leonardo Mascitelli; SCALA´s Coordinator Carla Pascale; and Doctor Carmen Virasoro and Agricultural Engineer José Jauregui in the role of the Project`s consultants. Representing the UNDP, there was Matías Mottet, coordinator of Environment and Sustainable Development, and Nahuel Pugliese, Officer of the Environment Department.
  
The points touched upon during the meeting centered on creating a space for dialogue with the MACS and to work on the links with private and public organizations, both on a national level as international, participating in SCALA Argentina. Communication between both organizations would launch forwards the technical development of traceability mechanisms and certification of bovine meat, access to resources, consulting and market opportunities, bringing forth a more competitive, innovative and responsible livestock farming.
