This brief presents the approach adopted by Cambodia to identifying and prioritizing agricultural practices that enhance climate resilience and reduce deforestation in the cassava and cashew value chains, two major cash crops driving deforestation and highly vulnerable to climate change in Stung Treng province. It outlines the rationale, methodology, key findings and recommendations of an analysis assessing solutions that strengthen climate resilience, conserve the environment, support rural livelihoods and enable sustainable market access. It also presents a roadmap for private sector engagement in climate-smart cassava and cashew value chains. The brief is designed for decision-makers and country planners involved in advancing the implementation of the NDC and NAP in the agriculture and land-use sectors.
This brief is the third installment of a SCALA case study series entitled “Assessing transformative climate action in agrifood systems”.
