With support from the Green Climate Fund and UNDP, Egypt extended efforts to protect 17 million people in the Nile Delta from rising sea levels and extreme weather. One of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions, the Delta is critical to Egypt’s economy, food production and coastal communities. The project installed 69 kilometers of nature-based dikes, strengthening local infrastructure, and implementing climate-smart coastal zone management. It also included training for government staff and supported community livelihoods through improved drainage and green public spaces. These combined efforts are already helping families like Aziz’s return to farming and look to the future with hope.
