After nearly 20 years without upper-air observations, Malawi is restoring a critical component of its national meteorological system. The Government of Malawi, through the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS), launched the SOFF Malawi Project in partnership with UNDP Climate and the Systematic Observations Financing Facility (SOFF). With an investment of USD 3.84 million, the country will: rehabilitate 4 surface observation stations, reintroduce one upper-air (radiosonde) station, provide long-term operational and maintenance supp and strengthen national capacity to sustain the system.
