Context
Countries have universally recognized the utmost importance of agriculture, land use, and food security in their updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). However, the real challenge lies in the effective implementation of transformative climate action that addresses the intricate complexities of our global resource system. This is where the water–energy–food-ecosystem nexus emerges as a crucial approach for policymakers and practitioners, enabling them to tackle these challenges head-on and devise innovative solutions for the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems.

Objectives
The FAO-UNDP Scaling up Climate Ambition on Land Use and Agriculture through Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans (SCALA) programme is organizing a side event at the global NDC conference. The event will focus on sectoral coordination within the water-energy-food-ecosystem nexus and explore the governance and policy alignment necessary for successful climate change action implementation. Participants will gain insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with developing and implementing comprehensive climate policies and programmes in these sectors.

The session aims to generate concrete recommendations that foster enhanced coordination and cooperation across sectors and levels to promote effective climate change action in agriculture through the water-energy-food-ecosystem nexus.
