This handbook - published in 2018 by UN Women in partnership with the Government of Serbia and UNDP, and with the financial support of the Global Environment Facility - aims to improve the understanding of gender aspects in climate change.
These training materials on addressing agriculture in National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) are designed to enhance the sector-specific understanding of the NAP process and advance country-level NAP formulation and implementation. It offers step-by-step guidance to move forward with the different elements of the NAP process, addressing relevant challenges through ad-hoc solutions in the agriculture sector. This set of training materials presents concrete experiences from countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
This Toolkit aims to help countries in selecting and analyzing value chains for opportunities to improve climate change resilience and reduce gender inequalities. Key strengths of the value chain approach include assisting in adaptation planning, analysis of vulnerabilities and hotspots across a value chain, assessing risks at each node, identifying new market opportunities to help communities adapt, and suggesting partnerships in which there is mutual benefit from the implementation of the strategies.
The guide presents a mix of interactive activities and presentations, to be used in whole or in part, to improve the individual-level skills and behaviours needed to foster gender-responsive agriculture adaptation plans within a broader capacity development process. The emphasis is on adaptation in agriculture, however the materials can be applied to planning for climate change adaptation in other sectors. In addition to this Guide for trainers, there are companion PowerPoint templates that workshop organizers can tailor to their specific context.
